A senior move manager handles the physical and logistical side of downsizing, sorting belongings, coordinating movers, setting up a new home. A real estate agent handles the sale of the property itself, pricing, marketing, negotiating, and closing. Many families need both, and I coordinate directly with trusted senior move managers and estate sale companies in the Omaha area so nothing falls into a gap between the two.

Do I need to fix up my home before selling if I'm downsizing?
Not always, and not automatically. Some updates are worth the investment, others aren't. I walk the home with you first and give an honest read on what actually affects your sale price versus what's just cosmetic preference. You should never spend money on a home you're leaving without knowing it'll come back to you.

How long does the downsizing and selling process usually take?
It depends entirely on your situation. Some families move within a few weeks. Others take the better part of a year to sort through decades of belongings before they're ready to list. There is no required pace, and I've never rushed a client who needed more time.

What if I'm helping a parent downsize and they're not ready to talk about it?
This comes up often, and it's one of the harder parts of this work for families, not just for the person moving. I'm glad to talk with adult children first, without any pressure on the parent, so you have real information and a plan in hand whenever the conversation is ready to happen.

Is downsizing always about moving to a smaller home?
No. For many people it's really about moving to the right home, one with fewer stairs, less maintenance, or a layout that works better long-term. Smaller isn't always the actual goal, easier often is.
